Animal Welfare Society “Bark in the Park” Fundraiser is set for June 3rd
The Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County is celebrating its 71th anniversary and hosting its 15th annual Bark in the Park fundraising event at Jefferson Memorial Park in Charles Town, WV. The event will be held on June 3rd from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. with registration beginning at 9:30.
You and your best doggy pal or pals can join us for a day of fun. There will be a Blessing of the Animals; an Interactive Dog Walk; canine demonstrations; dog and owner games that include the Biscuit Walk, the Puppachino Challenge (Man vs Dog – who’s got the quicker licker) and PupCorn Hole. There will also be canine contests that include fan favorites: Get your Wag on, Best Duet, Best Trick, Lookalike Twins and Best Dressed! So don your doggie in its most stylish attire and join the fun! Dogs can also be sorted into their Dogwarts houses and/or Pick your Petreaus. Many vendors will be on site including dog rescues and purveyors of handmade crafts and various products.
For a doggone good time, plan to spend the day with your best friend and help benefit the homeless pets at the Animal Welfare Society shelter. Registration is a $10.00 donation per dog for the event and your canine friend receives a doggy bandana and “wag” bag. Dogs must be current on vaccinations.

The Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County’s Bark in the Park is back!! We need business or craft vendors for their festival. Please mark your calendar for Saturday, June 3rd from 10 am- 2:00 pm! The 10 x 10 spaces can be rented for $25.00. Bring your own tables, etc. This event will be held at Charles Town’s Jefferson Memorial Park on Forrest Ave. at the end of South Church Street. Vendor set-up is at 8 am.
Tell your friends and reserve your space early.
All proceeds benefit the Society’s animal shelter for abused, neglected and abandoned unwanted dogs, puppies, kittens and cats.
Space for Animal Rescue groups is free!
AWS participates in many community-sponsored events through the year, Day of Caring in September, Dog Fest in Shepherdstown in May, Charles Town Farmers Market Dog Days, Charles Town Christmas Parade, and many more. We also participate in Dining to Donate with Applebee’s and Glory Days.
